Reconciliation Action Plan

Our vision is to deliver an Early Childhood Education and Care service that will recognise, respect and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures and histories, and to embed First Nations perspectives respectfully and authentically across our service.

Our vision is to ensure our service is accessible and inclusive to all families within our wider community, and to foster equality and equity between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and non-Indigenous community members. We recognise the important and valuable role that children play in our country’s current and future journey towards reconciliation and championing the rights and equity of all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Our vision is to authentically and respectfully connect with our local First Nations community and build a respectful, reciprocal relationship where the voices of First Nations community members will be actively listened to, represented and advocated for.

Sustainability and Nature Play

We believe in respecting the environment by embedding sustainable practices that help children understand that they are a part of nature and all its wonder. There is an abundance of natural components in our environment particularly in the outdoors. This lends itself to meaningful discussions between our educators and learners, both through intentional teaching practices and spontaneously, regarding taking responsibility for the environment both living and constructed. We have a dedicated Sustainability team, consisting of an educator and children who undertake sustainable initiatives at the service.

Child Advocacy and Safety

We are committed to implementing the Child Safe Standards and continually aim to reflect on and improve our practices to better support our most vulnerable. All of our team members complete “In Safe Hands” training annually.

We believe in the power of a child’s voice and find ways to advocate and celebrate the opinions and achievements of our youngest citizens within the Learning Garden and our wider community. Children are respectfully consulted within most decision making and are included within our Reconciliation Working Group, Workplace Health and Safety and Sustainability groups.
