The Learning Garden Childcare and Kindergarten Evolving Philosophy

We acknowledge the Yugambeh (Mununjali) People as the Traditional Owners of the land where The Learning Garden Jimboomba now stands. We recognise them as the Traditional Owners and thank them for allowing us to play, work and live on their Traditional land. We extend our respect to their Elders – past, present, and emerging. We acknowledge their styles of teaching and learning that has developed over thousands of generations and will endeavour to embed a First Nations perspective within our service.

Through using the Rose way planning framework, we provide a child focused, enquiry-based curriculum supported by early childhood theory, practice, and research. Our educators are guided by the Early Years Learning Framework(EYLF), Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines(QKLG), National Quality Framework(NQF), United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child(UNCRC) and Early Childhood Australia’s Code of Ethics.

We recognise children as young citizens of the world and as such believe that all children are capable, competent, and curious learners and deserve to be treated with respect. We believe every child is unique and has the right to develop and flourish at their own pace with the support of their early childhood educators to establish secure relationships and meaningful experiences for the children to explore, play and learn. We feel it is our responsibility to provide opportunities for all children to develop positive dispositions for learning and facilitate a love for learning.

At The Learning Garden Childcare and Kindergarten, we aim to create a safe, love filled, nurturing environment where every child is supported to build upon their own identity and feel a sense of belonging. We aim to create flexible, engaging learning spaces both indoors and outdoors that are resourced with open-ended materials to help foster the children’s creativity and imagination. We believe a play-based approach to learning is the most beneficial to a child’s development in the early years and will help our children grow into competent and capable young citizens.

We believe all stakeholders of our service have the right and responsibility to be active participants in our community and we will encourage regular participation which will help guide and support our service as it continues to grow. Our family’s values, beliefs and culture are treasured, and we will endeavour to extend upon these by sharing information and knowledge within our Learning Garden community.

Our staff will be committed and dedicated to providing the highest level of care in a fun and inspiring environment.
